Agilent Bio MAb Guard Columns

Choosing to use guard columns can help reduce operating expenses, by reducing the frequency of analytical column replacement. The guard column prevents damage caused by particulate matter and strongly adsorbed material. To maintain an adequate capacity for sample impurities, choose a guard column with an internal diameter similar to the column internal diameter. Ideally, the packing of the guard column should be the same as the analytical column so that the chromatography of the analytical column is not altered.

Thorough characterization of monoclonal antibodies includes the identification and monitoring of acidic and basic isoforms. The Agilent Bio MAb HPLC columns feature a unique resin specifically designed for high-resolution charge-based separations of monoclonal antibodies. Bio MAb columns are available are available in 1.7 µm, 3 µm, 5 µm and 10 µm sizes, providing higher resolution with the smaller particles. The Bio MAb column features a highly uniform, densely packed, weak cation exchange layer. This layer of the Bio MAb column is chemically bonded to the hydrophilic, polymeric coating of the Bio MAb column.
